Systemic change Drivers
At Daughters of Freedom Uganda, we recognize that achieving lasting impact for at-risk girls and survivors of trafficking requires addressing systemic root causes. Our approach to systemic change is guided by a set of transformative drivers that empower individuals, challenge societal norms, and build sustainable structures for justice and equity.
Tech-Innovation for Awareness and Protection
Leveraging Technology for Prevention: One of our key system change drivers is the use of technology to raise awareness, track trends in sex trafficking and provide real-time information to at-risk persons. By integrating mobile platforms, apps, and social media campaigns,We enhance access to information about sex trafficking risks, prevention strategies and available support services.
Digital Platforms for Reporting and Support:Technology also enables the development of safe, anonymous platforms for victims or concerned individuals to report trafficking incidents. These platforms facilitate quicker response and support, increasing the efficiency of the system in preventing trafficking and rescuing victims.
System Stregthening
Building Capacity in Local Institutions:Daughters of Freedom works with local institutions such as law enforcement, social services and healthcare providers to strengthen their ability to identify and respond to sex trafficking cases. Training programs ensure that these institutions are equipped with the knowledge and tools to handle trafficking cases sensitively and effectively.
Holistic Case Management Systems:The organization also promotes the establishment of holistic case management systems within institutional frameworks to ensure that survivors receive comprehensive care—from rescue and legal support to rehabilitation and reintegration. Strengthening these systems provides a coordinated, multi-disciplinary approach to trafficking prevention and response.
Advocacy
Advocating for Stronger Anti-Trafficking Laws: A critical system change driver is policy advocacy aimed at strengthening laws and regulations that protect vulnerable persons from trafficking. Daughters of Freedom actively engages with lawmakers and policymakers to advocate for more stringent anti-trafficking laws, better enforcement of existing laws, and the creation of protective legal frameworks for survivors.
Legal Support for Victims: The organization also provides legal assistance to survivors, ensuring they can access justice and that traffickers are held accountable. This legal advocacy extends to working with the judicial system to ensure cases are heard and prosecuted fairly, contributing to systemic deterrence of sex trafficking.
